Prince of Persia - the movie

After arriving in Fort Worth yesterday afternoon and looking around a bit downtown, I decided to finish off the evening by going to see Prince of Persia.  Despite the mixed reviews I've seen, I can't resist the chance to watch Jake Gyllenhaal dashing about in the desert....  And that's about what this movie presents: Jake Gyllenhaal, apparently in spectacular shape unless CGI was liberally applied to his torso, dashing about in the desert.  The plot is some fairy-tale about a hand sword with a time reversal button -- the gimmick -- and Jake gets to make google eyes (but not do much kissing or anything else, this is PG) with an exotic Middle Eastern princess with a sharp tongue).  The cast is super energetic, the visual effects are stunning at times, the pace is fast and furious, and your attention won't wander.  But don't expect depth here, as this is just Disney summer entertainment.
